J'Accuse! Snobbism?Dear Art Lovers, We get mail. "Snobbish Art Bastards," wrote Unsigned, the hometown left undesignated. This was the only electronic letter that I can print which is not-NSFW. As our team was incubating this site, we came upon the term Creative Class in one of our many tagline brainstorming exercises. The room fell silent. Everyone shifted in their leather Herman Millers. Outside the penthouse windows, the panoramic sky began to darken. Editor Grace Sperling asked, "Creative C-c-class?" Fisticuffs would have ensued had not the Millennials been so stoned. The art world is one of many different tribes, mediums, schools, movements and castes. Often times, we don't like each other very much. Art Report Today aims to change that. We are the spoon to stir every bowl. Our aggregated news brings immediate attention and fresh activity to the best art information, influence and opinion in the nation and around the globe. We live in a time where words are spiked and dangerous. One third of those queried said that the term Creative Class in our tagline is elitist. Of course, we had to use it! Ever the smart ass, I wanted to say it in French. The art world, as we know and love it, is high-minded and maybe even a little snooty, but never elitist. A club is exclusionary, but a class, especially a creative one, is an open invitation. Creativity, wonder and awe reside in every soul. Most importantly, creatives generally work in a vacuum, alone and isolated. Art Report Today aims to be a touchstone to a larger community of like-minded folks. You've never really been alone. Think Art. Show love. Share your creativity. And read Art Report Today, everyday. Let's have some fun. Gordy Grundy
