The Immortal IP: Silicon Valley's Quest For Eternal Life and Chef Anthony Bourdain

05 17 2026

THE IMMORTAL IP

Those crazy, fun lovin', four-eyed nerds. The famous Silicon Valley tech geeks. Always horsin' around, inventing products that make well-paid jobs obsolete.

In the middle of the last century, Americans valued their leisure time. Folks had hobbies. They made things. They volunteered their time civically.

It's a shame to see how these Silicon Valley superstars relax. There is a very dark streak in their relentless pursuit of eternal life. Living forever. Frankensteinian.

Mother Nature has made herself quite clear: Death is inevitable. I passionately disapprove of scientific manipulation of the weather for the simple reason that one should never mess with Mother Nature. Her revenge is severe, highly unpredictable and with a twisted sense of humor.

I find the idea of everlasting life to be absurd and narcissistic. Why you? Why not someone smarter? Or better looking. And do what? Wait a century and hope Netflix makes better movies? Try the new Diet Coke for the 10,793rd rollout? Eternity appears to be quite dull.

Frankly, I don't think the slow crawl of extending aging in one's senior years is gonna be a joyful, laugh riot. I'll trust Mother Nature, not Silicon Valley, for the timeline.

And of course, one has the power to checkout anytime. The chef and raconteur Anthony Bourdain wasn't thinking about eternity when he opted out of his media lifestyle. And in a grand twist of fate, Mother Nature then gave our unhappy chef eternal life.

The IP (Intellectual Property) of Bourdain has never been stronger. He is forever appearing on international screens as we speak. His exceptional quality and volume of content began in 2002 and the exhibition has never stopped.

This week, we feature the trailer for a new film biography "Tony," in our Formerly Known As Cinema section. Young Bourdain is a 19-year-old wannabe writer, who begins a tutelage under a demanding chef, played by Antonio Banderas. The job, the love life and the big city shenanigans are ripe for a sequel. And then another.

With all of the invested parties in his IP, Bourdain, aging where he left off, will surely go AI. The new travels, fine meals and spirited conversations will continue the series about eating well, joyful friendships and happy living.
