In this issue, we are so glad to share some incredible news about artist Theaster Gates. He just bought the Pickard China factory in Antioch, Illinois. What an endeavor. What a playground for an artist. A remarkable read. We're rooting for you Theaster.
As pundits are now calling Las Vegas "The Great American Work of Art," I would like to share a new work by Jeffrey Vallance. Our project in Vegas demanded a coat of arms, as does every promising institution, social movement, street gang and religious crusade.
A coat of arms was the original logo. Today we call it graphic arts, but a couple of centuries ago, the movers and shakers named it "heraldry." I can only think of one artist who utilizes the medium so cleverly: Los Angeles based artist Jeffrey Vallance. In future issues, we will share some of the artist's work, antics and bold endeavors throughout his storied career.
We are currently producing a series of Vallance prints with the Vegas atelier, Test Site Projects and master printer Eric Beehn.

A picture is worth a million words, yet I must add that Semper Splendida is the Latin translation for "Always Magnificent," "Always Shining," and "Always Fabulous."
That's Vegas. |
The MacArthur “Genius” Grants are getting tossed around this week and one of our favorite painters Vincent Valdez caught one. We've always known he was a genius, and now it's official. I could keep on gushing, but I rather let you see for yourself. His website speaks the loudest, Click Here.
